Hisako Katsumata Memorial Exhibition – Her wonderful world of weaving

6 – 31 March 2024
12:00 – 17:00

Hisako Katsumata (1951-2023) started Swedish weaving at the end of the 1970s in our class at the Roppongi Swedish Centre, and became a fan of Scandinavian colours and traditional techniques. She then worked as a manager of our shop in Tokyu Department Store before devoting herself to her creative work.

She continued weaving numerous works, holding solo exhibitions at galleries. I believe she established her own unique field of expression in weaving techniques (especially with dokagong technique).

We hope that you will enjoy the colours and textures of hand weaving through the beautiful works she left behind. Through this exhibition as a tribute to her in heaven, we would like to express our sincere condolences and look forward to seeing you at the exhibition.
