Regula Maria Müller : beads – crafts – traditions

22 – 28 September, 2025

Yamanashi Hemslöjd International is happy to present the exhibition and workshop by Regula Maria Müller on her visit to Japan!

“Textiles are the base of my practice. I use both old and new materials: fine paper yarns, beads from Japan, and modern tools like glassblowing and embroidered photographs.

Although I use traditional techniques, I do not see my work as “craft.” For me, technique is a tool – not the goal. I want each piece to speak quietly, but clearly, about how fragile and beautiful the world is – and how we may have lost our connection to it.

I observe nature around me in daily life, in places like the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Japan. These observations connect with cultural traditions, poetry, and philosophy. In my art, I try to bring these elements together.”

Regula Maria Müller (born 1961 in Switzerland, living in the Netherlands since 1983) is a textile and mixed media artist, teacher, and visual designer.
